It’s the time of year where kids dust off their backpacks, and cram them full of new books.

Experts at Baylor College of Medicine say parents should make sure their child’s backpack doesn’t weigh more than 10 to 15 percent of their total body weight.

There have been studies linking heavy backpacks to back pain in young children.

They suggest students carry backpacks on both shoulders, keep it snug and high in the middle of their back — and if your child is a real bookworm — consider buying a rolling backpack.
