How often do you buy kids clothing and shoes?

Do you buy it with the changing of seasons? Birthdays?

We have been buying clothing with birthdays and shoes just when she grows out of them. not too many seasons here in FL though.

I usually have to re-evaluate things at the change of the season. or like in the spring and fall. I buy more in Sept. now that my daughter's in school, so I try to get some short sleeve shirts that can carry over into spring, along with long sleeve stuff for fall/winter. I usually have to go out again at the beginning of summer to get things like tank tops and shorts – things she doesn't normally wear at school, but needs later on when it's really warm out. I get shoes on an as-needed basis. her sneakers from last year lasted from the beginning of school, all the way thru the summer, so those are usually once a year. But my mom also tends to pick up other shoes for my daughter as well thru out the year, when she sees stuff she likes.

It depends on the ages. It's much easier when they're younger because they don't have too many opinions and don't make requests. As they enter the teen years, however, it gets much tougher. they start paying attention to fashion trends and start asking for designer clothing. On average I get my 15 year old boy a couple of pieces (two shirts or an outfit) about every three months. aside from back to school, the holidays and birthdays of course.

Whenever they need them. I also get the next size when I see something on clearance. they generally get clothes for Christmas. sometimes family will get them clothes for their birthday. I buy shoes when I see good ones for cheap. My daughter (age 4) has more shoes than I do LOL. many are the next size up and there are some in the closet for next summer too that I got about a month ago on clearance. same for my son.

my son is 2 in 2 days .. i can count the number of clothing / shoes items that i have brought him on one hand .

i guess im just really lucky that i have family who love buying things for him ( things i dont even ask for ) and a best friend who takes great care of her sons clothes that by the time she hands them down to me , they are still like brand new .

but i think i might have to buy him a few pairs of shorts soon , its heating up here( australia) and im pretty sure he doesnt have any shorts in the piles of summer clothes he has

when they need clothes we buy them. usually at the change of season but there are times when they dont need new clothes. this year my daughter will need a new jacket, my boys can still fit their old ones, so they dont get new ones.
We dont get clothes for birthday presents ( or x-mas), they are still small and I think its something we are supposed to buy them, b-day presents are extra stuff you dont really need. once they are teens and like have to have some redicilously priced pair of jeans then maybe those can be a birthday present lol

Change of seasons. I buy shoes for my 3 yr old a lot it seems. Now that fall and winter are coming I'll buy some tennis shoes and boots. I have to buy jackets and coats every year too. right now we are set on jeans, pants and shirts. My niece is a few years older and my sister in law gave us all the clothes she's outgrown.

Our 11 yr old seems to grow a lot quicker. His mom buys 80% of his clothes. He wears uniforms to school. we buy "play clothes" to keep at our house and shoes that he can get dirty.

We buy clothes in the spring for summer and for school. we do sometimes have to get new things if they have a growth spurt. they do not get clothes for their birthdays but they do for Christmas.

We start to buy when we noticed that their clothes are getting too tight or small on them or their shoes are falling apart or it could be for Birthdays, Holidays or just for the changing of seasons.

I have a son. To save money, my H & I buy clothing when it's on sale an in anticipation of him growing…which happens a heck of a lot – LOL!

maybe when the weather changes or if my son just grows, so maybe 3 or 4 times a year.
